breast cancer

I'm not too convinced about mammograms…I was diagnosed in 1986 with ductal carcinoma, had my mammo's faithfully every year, in Oct 2015 had a mammo done, have been having continuous invasive squamous skin cancer for the last 4 years straight, they decided to do a pet scan mid Dec of 2015 to see if it had spread and they found cancer in my right breast AGAIN, it was 8mm (ductal cancer) meaning it had to have been for quite some time, yet it didn't show on the mammogram in Oct. The pet scan no doubt saved my life, they say thermograms are better, but insurance will not pay for those.

Hi msbets2, nice to meet you. I am glad you found your way to us. That is quite an experience you had, another reminder that the technology we rely on is not always so reliable. I am glad to hear you get the test you needed and got your treatment underway. I hope you will stay in touch with us.

msbets2, thanks for sharing your story with us. That's interesting that the mammograms didn't pick up the tumor when the PET scan did. I'm sorry you're going through this again, you seem like a fighter. Please keep us updated with how you're doing! You'll be in my thoughts!

Thank you aleahk, had to give up the Tamoxifen for the breast cancer was allergic to it, at the moment not doing anything about that, have had my first infusion for the skin cancer, it's a trial med, seems to be working even after only one treatment, and keeping my fingers crossed hoping I won't get more ill from the treatment and will worry about the breast later, Thank you for your thoughts they are so appreciated and welcome…the best to you Peggy
